Jobber vs QuoteIQ for solo trades: client portal and property measuring compared

Page last updated · Vendor pricing checked

A one-person operation can start on either platform for under $50 a month. But only one of them gives a solo operator a client-facing portal at that price, and the other one's answer to property measuring doesn't exist at any price. If you want both a client portal and built-in property measuring from the same app, the real starting price on one side jumps to $149.99 a month — three times its own headline number.

Where these numbers come from. Every price and feature-gate below is read directly from getjobber.com/pricing and myquoteiq.com/pricing, both checked on the date above. Third-party review sites currently quote Jobber Core anywhere from $29 to $49 a month — that's not disagreement, it's three different billing options for the same plan (no-commitment, one-year commitment, and annual prepay), listed further down.

Who this is for

True solo operators and one-to-two-person crews — a single technician handling quoting, scheduling, invoicing and customer communication without office staff. Both platforms explicitly market their entry tiers to this exact buyer: Jobber's Core plan is scoped around one user, and QuoteIQ's Essentials plan is described on its own pricing page as being for "solo operators getting started."

This page is a good fit if

You're choosing between these two specifically, you measure properties (roofs, lawns, driveways, exteriors) as part of quoting, and you want customers to be able to see or approve their own quotes and invoices online.

Look elsewhere if

You already have 5+ field staff (see our Jobber vs Housecall Pro comparison instead), you need job costing and QuickBooks sync more than a portal or measuring tool, or you're choosing based on total cost of ownership across six platforms — use the FSM total cost calculator for that.

Quick verdict

Neither platform is a straightforward winner because they don't compete on the same axis. Jobber's cheapest plan already includes a client portal; QuoteIQ's cheapest plan includes neither a portal nor its measuring tool. Here's what each vendor's own pricing page says a true solo operator gets at the entry tier:

Client portal, compared

"Client portal" means different things depending on which plan you're on, and this is the detail that neither vendor puts front and center on their pricing card.

Jobber calls its version Client Hub: a self-serve online space where a customer can approve a quote, check appointment details, and pay an invoice, without a phone call. According to Jobber's own plan comparison, Client Hub ships on Core, the $49/month solo plan — it is not gated behind a higher tier.

QuoteIQ's equivalent is listed on its pricing page simply as Client Portal, a newer addition to the product. QuoteIQ's own feature-by-tier table marks it unavailable on Essentials and Beginner, and available starting at Pro, the $149.99/month plan that includes 4 user seats. A solo operator on Essentials or Beginner does not get this feature at any price below $149.99.

This is worth sitting with for a second: QuoteIQ also sells a separate customer-communication feature called ClientHub, which centralizes texts, photos, quotes and invoices in one thread. That's a real feature and it's part of why QuoteIQ markets itself as all-in-one. But it is not the same line item as the self-serve Client Portal that lets a customer log in and act on their own quote or invoice — and it's the Client Portal specifically that is missing below Pro.

Property measuring, compared

This is the feature this comparison exists to answer, since it's the one QuoteIQ leads with in its own marketing and the one Jobber simply doesn't have.

QuoteIQ's MapMeasure Pro measures roofs, lawns, driveways and building exteriors from satellite and Street View imagery, without a site visit, and drops the measurement straight into an estimate. A March 2026 platform update added automatic roof-segment detection and pitch visualization through Google's Solar API, plus the ability to screenshot a measurement and attach it directly to a customer-facing estimate. It is genuinely a differentiated feature in this category.

The catch is tier placement, not the feature itself: MapMeasure Pro is explicitly excluded from the $29.99 Essentials plan and only turns on starting at Beginner, $74.99/month for 2 users. If measuring is the reason you're evaluating QuoteIQ at all, the real entry price to test is $74.99, not the $29.99 the homepage advertises.

Jobber's answer is that there isn't one. Its published feature comparison — covering Core, Connect, Grow and Plus — lists no satellite, map-based, or photogrammetry measuring tool at any tier. A Jobber user who wants this has to measure on-site manually or bring in a separate app through Jobber's integration marketplace; it is not something the platform builds toward as you upgrade.

What it costs at 1 technician

Same buyer, same headcount, priced against what they actually need. All figures are annual, no-commitment monthly billing (the number you'd pay if you didn't want to commit to a term).

Scenario (1 technician)PlanPer year
Just quoting, invoicing and a client portal — no measuringJobber Core$588
Same, no portal, no measuring neededQuoteIQ Essentials$360
Property measuring, no client portalQuoteIQ Beginner$900
Both property measuring and a client portalQuoteIQ Pro$1,800

The jump between rows three and four is the whole story: going from "measuring only" to "measuring plus a portal" on QuoteIQ doesn't cost a small add-on fee, it costs the difference between Beginner and Pro — an extra $900 a year, largely for a portal Jobber includes on its $588/year plan by default (Jobber just doesn't measure anything). There's no configuration of either vendor that gets a solo operator both features for less than $1,800/year, because Jobber doesn't sell property measuring at any price.

Card processing costs

Jobber publishes one flat processing rate across every plan, including Core: 2.9% + 30¢ per card transaction, 1% for ACH bank payments, and 2.7% + 30¢ for in-app Tap to Pay, with an extra 1% if you want instant payouts. Because the rate doesn't change by tier, a solo operator on Core pays the same processing rate as a 15-user Plus account.

QuoteIQ's pricing page states plainly that "payment processing and other optional services are separate from the subscription" but does not publish a specific percentage or per-transaction fee on the page itself. If processing cost matters to your decision and you're seriously evaluating QuoteIQ, get the current rate from a sales conversation or your account setup screen rather than assuming it matches Jobber's; this page won't invent a number the vendor hasn't published.

Methodology and sources

Every price and feature-gate claim above is sourced directly from each vendor's own pricing page, not from third-party aggregators, because third-party numbers on both platforms are currently inconsistent by as much as $20/month depending on which billing option a given article is describing.

What this page leaves out: onboarding/setup time, mobile app UX differences, and customer support quality — all of which matter but aren't verifiable from a pricing page. QuoteIQ's card processing rate is not published and is flagged rather than estimated. Confirm current figures with each vendor before subscribing; software pricing changes without notice.

Frequently asked questions

Does Jobber have anything like QuoteIQ's MapMeasure Pro?

No. Jobber's own feature comparison table, across Core, Connect, Grow and Plus, does not list a satellite or map-based property measurement tool at any tier. If remote property measurement matters to your workflow, it is not something Jobber's core plans add as you move up.

Which QuoteIQ plan do I actually need for property measuring?

Beginner, at $74.99 a month, is the floor. MapMeasure Pro is explicitly excluded from the $29.99 Essentials plan, so if measuring is the reason you're looking at QuoteIQ, price the product starting at $74.99, not the $29.99 headline.

Which QuoteIQ plan includes a client-facing portal?

Pro, at $149.99 a month. QuoteIQ's own plan comparison table marks Client Portal as unavailable on Essentials and Beginner and available starting at Pro. A solo operator who wants both property measuring and a client portal needs Pro, not Beginner.

What can a customer actually do in Jobber's Client Hub?

Approve quotes, see appointment details, and pay invoices online, without calling the office. Jobber includes Client Hub starting on its cheapest plan, Core, which is also the plan built for solo operators.

What does card processing cost on each platform?

Jobber publishes one flat rate across every plan: 2.9% plus 30 cents per card transaction, 1% for ACH bank payments, and 2.7% plus 30 cents for Tap to Pay. QuoteIQ's pricing page does not publish a specific processing percentage; it states that payment processing and other optional services are billed separately from the subscription.

Which is cheaper for a true one-person operation?

It depends on what you need beyond quoting and invoicing. For scheduling, invoicing and a client portal with no property measurement, Jobber Core at $49/month (or $29/month billed annually) is cheaper than any QuoteIQ tier that includes a portal. If you specifically need built-in property measuring and a client portal together, QuoteIQ Pro at $149.99/month is the only plan from either vendor that includes both, but it costs roughly three times Jobber Core.

Can I avoid a contract on either platform?

Yes, both offer month-to-month billing with no commitment. Jobber's no-commitment rate is its highest price point; committing for a year or prepaying annually lowers it. QuoteIQ's discount for prepaying annually works out to roughly two months free compared with paying monthly.
