Best plumbing software for small business: what actually differs for a drain-and-repair shop
Every general field service platform on this site can schedule a plumbing job, send an invoice and take a card payment. Almost none of the roundups ranking for "best plumbing software" check the two things that actually differ for a plumbing shop specifically: whether the flat-rate pricebook has a real Drain Cleaning book built for the trade, and whether photo and video documentation from a drain or sewer camera is a native feature or something you bolt on separately. This page checks both across the eight platforms already researched on this site, links out to the full comparison behind each one, and works out what a plumbing-ready setup actually costs at five technicians.
Neither gap is really about "plumbing software" existing. It's about content and integration. The pricebook gap is filled by a third party, Profit Rhino, that several platforms plug into and one platform (Jobber) does not. The camera-documentation gap is filled by a separate photo app, CompanyCam, that four platforms plug into natively and two do not appear to connect to at all. Neither vendor's own marketing page leads with this, which is exactly why it is worth checking before you buy.
Who this is for
Owner-operators and office managers at plumbing businesses of roughly 1–25 technicians choosing field service software, who do residential or light-commercial drain cleaning, fixture and pipe repair, water heater work, or backflow and inspection visits, and who want pricing that reflects plumbing specifically rather than a generic "home services" checklist with a plumbing logo on it.
It is less useful if you run large-scale commercial or municipal pipeline and sewer inspection work, where the software you need is CCTV inspection and asset-management software such as WinCan or ITpipes, not a field service platform at all. It is also not a fresh, from-scratch review of any single platform: this page synthesizes the nine platform-specific comparisons already built on this site and adds the plumbing-specific research those pages did not need to cover. For the full pricing tables, worked technician-count examples and feature detail behind any platform named here, follow the linked page.
Quick verdict
| Your situation | Look at | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Want a pre-built plumbing and drain-cleaning pricebook, willing to pay for it | Housecall Pro (Profit Rhino add-on) | The only platform researched here where Profit Rhino's Drain Cleaning book bundles into a flat, published monthly add-on rather than a per-user quote. |
| Solo or two-person shop, want tiered Good/Better/Best pricing without an add-on fee | QuoteIQ | Tiered pricing is native on every plan per QuoteIQ's own site, but you build the plumbing content yourself. |
| Large crew, moderate job volume, want unlimited users | ServiceM8 or Service Fusion | Both price by job volume or flat rate rather than per seat; model against your real monthly job count, not headcount. |
| Already deep in Jobber, want tiered quotes without switching platforms | Jobber's own optional line items (Grow plan) | Jobber is not a listed Profit Rhino integration partner, but its native "optional line items" feature covers Good/Better/Best-style quoting without a second subscription. |
| Multi-location commercial plumbing, recurring backflow/grease-trap inspections | ServiceTitan | The only platform here whose pricebook content is also Profit Rhino-powered, aimed at operations past the size this site otherwise targets. |
The two gaps aggregators miss
Gap 1: "camera inspection documentation" is a photo app, not a platform feature
Searches for "plumbing software with camera inspection" mostly surface enterprise CCTV pipe-inspection systems such as WinCan and ITpipes, built for municipal sewer contractors coding defects to NASSCO PACP standards. None of the eight field service platforms compared on this site do that, and none should try to: it is a different job. What a 2–25 technician plumbing shop actually needs is a reliable way to get camera footage and job-site photos attached to the right customer record so an office manager, a homeowner or an insurance adjuster can find them later without digging through a phone's camera roll.
That need is filled almost entirely by one third-party app, CompanyCam, which organizes photos and video by property address, timestamps and GPS-tags them, and lets a technician annotate a leak or a meter reading directly on the image. CompanyCam's own help center confirms native, first-party integrations with Jobber, Housecall Pro, Workiz and FieldPulse. The access differs by platform: Jobber's help documentation states the integration is available on select Jobber plans and requires CompanyCam's Pro or Premium tier; Housecall Pro and FieldPulse gate the integration behind an upgrade from their entry Basic plan; Workiz makes it available on every plan. Service Fusion, ServiceTitan, QuoteIQ and ServiceM8 do not appear in CompanyCam's own integration directory as of this research; ServiceM8 can be connected only through third-party automation middleware rather than a native app-to-app sync, and it has its own built-in job-photo capture that may cover a smaller shop's needs without an added subscription.
The practical takeaway: if photo and video documentation of drain and sewer work matters to your business (proof of pre-existing damage, before-and-after records for a warranty claim, evidence for a dispute), check which of Jobber, Housecall Pro, Workiz or FieldPulse you are already leaning toward, then confirm the CompanyCam plan tier required, since CompanyCam's own published pricing is inconsistent across current third-party listings (figures found ranged from roughly $24 to $149 per user per month depending on the source and plan), so check CompanyCam's current pricing page directly rather than trusting any single aggregator figure, including this one.
Gap 2: a real Drain Cleaning pricebook is a third-party add-on, and only some platforms offer it
Flat-rate pricing raises average ticket size and removes scope disputes mid-job, which is why most platforms let you build a price book. The gap is between building your own from scratch and starting from an industry-vetted library that already has a dedicated plumbing and drain-cleaning section. That library, in practice, is Profit Rhino, a flat-rate content publisher (part of the EverCommerce group that also owns Housecall Pro and Service Fusion) whose own product pages and Housecall Pro's own help center confirm a specific Drain Cleaning book sold alongside HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical content, with images, diagrams and quarterly-updated pricing.
Profit Rhino integrates with Housecall Pro, Service Fusion and ServiceTitan, per Profit Rhino's own integrations pages and each platform's own help documentation, and standalone Profit Rhino subscriptions run roughly $39 to $59 per user per month depending on tier, per Capterra's listing. Housecall Pro negotiated a flat bundle instead of per-user pricing: its own help center prices the Profit Rhino-powered price book, covering all four included industry books, at $199 a month regardless of headcount. Jobber does not appear on Profit Rhino's list of integration partners; instead, Jobber's own pricing page shows a native "optional line items" feature for tiered, Good/Better/Best-style quotes, but it is gated to the Grow plan and above and ships without any pre-built plumbing pricing content. QuoteIQ takes a different approach again: its own site advertises tiered Good/Better/Best pricing as a built-in feature on every plan, including its lowest tier, but, like Jobber, without a pre-loaded plumbing price library, so you build or import your own.

What a plumbing-ready setup costs at 5 technicians
"Plumbing-ready" here means a subscription plus whatever it takes to add a Drain Cleaning pricebook, where one is available. This is not a full total-cost-of-ownership figure; run the base subscription, seats and card processing through the FSM total cost calculator for that. The figures below isolate the pricebook add-on specifically, since that is the cost the aggregators miss.
| Platform, 5 users | Drain Cleaning pricebook add-on | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Housecall Pro | $199/mo flat | Confirmed on Housecall Pro's own help center; same price whether you have 1 or 25 users. |
| Service Fusion | Not published | Integration confirmed on Service Fusion's own help center; whether it is bundled or billed per-user like standalone Profit Rhino was not confirmed by this research. Verify with sales. |
| ServiceTitan | Not published | ServiceTitan does not publish prices at all; see the tipping-point analysis on the Housecall Pro vs ServiceTitan page for whether it is worth quoting at your size. |
| Standalone Profit Rhino, 5 users | $195–$295/mo | $39–$59 per user per month per Capterra's listing. This is what it would cost to run Profit Rhino's content outside a bundled integration, or alongside a platform (such as Jobber) that Profit Rhino does not officially connect to. |
| Jobber, QuoteIQ, Workiz, FieldPulse, ServiceM8 | $0 add-on | No confirmed Profit Rhino partnership. Native tiered-quote tools (Jobber Grow, QuoteIQ) cost nothing extra but ship without pre-built plumbing content; the trade-off is your time building the price book instead of a subscription fee. |
Read that last row carefully before assuming Housecall Pro's $199 is expensive: it is buying pre-built content and update cadence, not a required feature. A shop that already has a working flat-rate price list, or is comfortable building one, gets the same tiered-quoting behavior from Jobber's optional line items or QuoteIQ's native Good/Better/Best tool for no extra subscription at all. The 24 flat-rate tasks and formula in a typical published plumbing labor price list can be built into either platform's native pricing tool in an afternoon; whether that afternoon is worth $199 a month to skip is a judgment call specific to your shop.
What the full comparisons already cover
This page exists to add the plumbing-specific angle, not to re-run research the rest of the site already did well. For everything else, go to the platform pages directly:
Which one to choose
You want the drain-cleaning pricebook handled for you
Housecall Pro's $199/mo Profit Rhino add-on is the only flat, published, all-user price found for a dedicated Drain Cleaning book. Confirm it against your headcount: at 5 users it is cheaper than standalone Profit Rhino; check the math again above 8–10 users.
You are a solo or two-person plumbing operation
See Jobber vs QuoteIQ. QuoteIQ's native tiered pricing avoids an add-on fee; Jobber's Core plan is lighter-weight if you don't need tiered quotes yet.
Your crew is large but your monthly job count is moderate
Model ServiceM8's job-credit tiers and Service Fusion's flat unlimited-user pricing against your real monthly job volume, not your headcount. See ServiceM8 vs Jobber and ServiceFusion vs Jobber.
You document drain and sewer work heavily and want it organized
Prioritize Jobber, Housecall Pro, Workiz or FieldPulse for the confirmed native CompanyCam integration, then check the CompanyCam plan tier each one requires before you commit to the added cost.
Whichever platform you land on, the pricebook and the photo documentation are separate purchase decisions layered on top of the base subscription compared on each linked page. Run the full stack, including card processing, through the FSM total cost calculator and the merchant processing fee impact calculator before you sign.
Methodology and sources
Platform pricing and integration status for Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, Workiz, FieldPulse and Service Fusion is carried over from the dedicated comparison pages linked above, which read it from each vendor's own pricing and help-center pages. The plumbing-specific research unique to this page, the Profit Rhino pricebook integrations and the CompanyCam photo-documentation integrations, comes from Profit Rhino's own integrations pages, Housecall Pro's and Service Fusion's own help centers, ServiceTitan's own blog post announcing the Profit Rhino partnership, CompanyCam's own help center and integration directory, and Jobber's own help article and pricing page, all read on the date shown at the top. Where a vendor page did not state whether an integration is bundled or billed per user (Service Fusion's Profit Rhino connection, in particular), the page marks it "verify" rather than filling the gap with a third-party claim. Standalone Profit Rhino and CompanyCam per-user pricing came from Capterra's own listings, since neither company's own site was fetched directly for this page; CompanyCam's figures in particular were inconsistent across the third-party listings found, and that inconsistency is reported rather than resolved into a single number.

Frequently asked questions
Does any field service platform include sewer or drain camera inspection?
No. Frame-by-frame CCTV coding to NASSCO PACP standards lives in a separate category of software (WinCan, ITpipes and similar) built for municipal and utility contractors, not in Jobber, Housecall Pro, Workiz, FieldPulse, Service Fusion, ServiceTitan, QuoteIQ or ServiceM8. What a small residential or commercial plumbing shop actually gets from its field service platform is a place to attach the camera footage and photos to the job record, either natively or through a photo-documentation app such as CompanyCam.
What is Profit Rhino and do I need it?
Profit Rhino is a third-party flat-rate pricebook publisher that sells pre-built, regularly updated price books for HVAC, plumbing, drain cleaning and electrical work, and integrates into several field service platforms rather than being a platform itself. You need it if you want a professionally built plumbing and drain-cleaning price list on day one instead of building your own; you can skip it if you already have a price book or are comfortable building one in your platform's native pricing tool.
Is QuoteIQ good for a solo plumber?
QuoteIQ's own site advertises tiered Good/Better/Best pricing on every plan, including its lowest tier, which is unusual since most competitors gate that behind a higher tier or a separate add-on. It does not ship a pre-built plumbing price book the way Profit Rhino does, so you build or import your own pricing rather than starting from an industry-vetted library. See the Jobber vs QuoteIQ comparison for how it stacks up against Jobber for a true solo operator.
What is the cheapest way to get a real plumbing and drain-cleaning pricebook?
On the figures checked for this page, Housecall Pro's own help center prices its Profit Rhino-powered price book, which explicitly includes a Drain Cleaning book alongside HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical, at a flat $199 a month regardless of technician count, on top of your Housecall Pro subscription. Profit Rhino sold on its own, for use with Service Fusion, ServiceTitan or another connected platform, is billed per user starting around $39 to $59 a month according to Capterra's listing, so it gets more expensive than Housecall Pro's flat add-on once you pass roughly four to five users. QuoteIQ's native tiered pricing avoids the add-on fee entirely but without the pre-built plumbing content.
Does ServiceM8's job-credit pricing work for a plumbing business?
It can, and the model is genuinely different from the other platforms on this page: ServiceM8 charges by job volume with unlimited users on every paid plan, rather than by seat. A plumbing shop with a large crew but a modest number of monthly jobs, such as a crew doing mostly larger repiping and remodel work, can come out ahead of per-seat pricing. A shop running a high volume of small drain and service calls across the same crew size will burn through the job allowance faster and should model both pricing structures against real job counts, not technician counts, before deciding.
If my field service software already lets me attach photos to a job, do I need CompanyCam too?
Not necessarily. Every platform on this page has some way to attach photos to a job record. CompanyCam adds automatic organization by property address and project, annotation tools, before-and-after comparisons and shareable photo reports that a bare attachment field does not, which matters most for documenting drain and sewer camera findings for a customer or insurance adjuster. A low-volume shop may not need the extra subscription; a shop that leans on photo and video documentation for every call, or that has been disputed on "you damaged something" claims, gets more use out of it.
